International Literacy Day Competition 2016

The competition is themed “Why reading matters” and is for Pacific people aged 16 years and under. Entries should capture real life experiences, whereby children and young people can send in personal experiences about how reading has helped them. There’s nothing more powerful than having kids talk to other kids. All they need to do is share a story (preferably their own real life experience) about how reading helped them. With the Pacific being diverse in terms of technology, the categories are as follows (with specifications for each to be confirmed):

·             Letter /Email

·             Storybook with illustrations

·             Poster with illustrations

·             Video

The best two from each category can be placed on various websites, social media, and in media outlets and shared with schools in time for International Literacy Day, and for ongoing reference.
